Rockwool launches in the Hauts-de-France region
The Danish company specialising in innovative stone wool insulation products confirmed its new facility in Courmelles, near Soissons, yesterday.
The new production unit will allow the group to pursue its expansion in France where demand for insulation products is on the rise.
“With more than 40 years industrial presence in France* this new facility is a natural progression in an increasingly important market.”
Rafael Rodriguez, Managing Director, Rockwool France and Southern Europe
Construction is scheduled to start in 2022 with commissioning due in 2024.

Large-scale deployment of cutting-edge technology
As well as creating jobs, the group is importing cutting-edge technology to the region: low-carbon electric melting technology has been in use in Norway since 2020 where it has reduced carbon emissions by around 80%.
The production technique contributes to the circular economy in the construction sector and is in line with both:
France’s national energy efficiency plans
the regional Rev3 plan, the 3rd industrial revolution
“This investment in new capacity will contribute to meeting the growing demand for our insulation products in France. Creating more energy efficient buildings is an essential element in reaching French, EU and global climate goals, and our insulation plays an important role. Using the electric melting technology also contributes to meeting our own ambitious decarbonisation goals.” Jens Birgersson, ROCKWOOL Group CEO.
