Health: Lille a bastion in the fight against cancer
04 Sep 2015 | Health Nutrition, A region on the move
Lille University Hospital Center and the Oscar Lambret Cancer Treatment Center receive new honors and awards from France’s National Cancer Institute—and maintain their unrelenting battle against cancer.

Lille’s expertise in oncology recognized and supported by National Cancer Institute
Lille University Hospital Center (CHRU) and the Oscar Lambret Center (COL) are working hand in hand to offer cancer victims a comprehensive range of therapies. Together they form a hub of expertise in both adult and childhood cancers, conducting 400 clinical research projects a year involving 2,500 patients. The two centers’ work in early-stage clinical trials goes back more than 15 years and has just been awarded a special “label” by France’s National Cancer Institute (INCa)—along with €227,500 in annual funding over four years. Funds will enable CHRU and Oscar Lambret Center to continue to recruit dedicated staff and treat more children and adults with innovative molecules.
Sole site awarded INCa label in Northern France
Lille’s Early Stage Clinical Trial Center (CLIP2 Lille), backed by the two units, is the only cancer research site recognized in this way in Northern France.
Early-stage trials are developed by specialized research teams working to the highest international standards. Candidates are offered a chance to take part when alternative therapies are justified or when traditional treatments are not effective on their own.
Optimum care
Together CHRU and the Oscar Lambret Center treat all cancer pathologies affecting youngsters in the region, serving 150 new patients a year. Thanks to their comprehensive and structured expertise in diagnostics, children are offered premium medical care and easier access to specialized early-stage trials.
