Electric mobility: Électro'mob, the regional solution

to the need for skilled labor

With the establishment of 4 gigafactories, the Hauts-de-France region is emerging as Europe's battery valley. But this brand-new ecosystem, which will generate over 17,000 jobs by 2027, requires a highly specialized workforce. Find out how Electro'Mob meets this crucial training need (and how you can benefit from it).

What is the Électro'mob program?

The electric mobility sector in France is in the process of transforming. In Hauts-de-France, the country’s leading automotive region, the revolution is underway.

The arrival of 4 gigafactories (ACC, Verkor, Envision-AESC and ProLogium) and a whole new ecosystem of related stakeholders has created a significant need for skilled manpower.

7,500 direct jobs are expected, for a total of over 17,000 jobs by 2027.

Although the region has a large pool of available manpower, training remains a key factor in anticipating and consolidating recruitment in this sector.

To meet this need, the region has launched the Électro’Mob initiative, a structuring project that outlines the automotive industry’s employment and training strategy for the next five years.

This ambitious initiative aims to support and accelerate the automotive industry’s transition to electromobility by anticipating the sector’s training needs.

It is steered by ARIA Hauts-de-France, thanks to its 25 years of experience in working with manufacturers in the automotive sector in the Hauts-de-France region.

The establishment of four gigafactories in the Hauts-de-France region to manufacture batteries for electric vehicles is emblematic of the unprecedented investments that the automotive industry is making in France today to meet the challenge of the biggest transformation in its history. And the Electro’Mob project aims to meet the unprecedented challenge of training people to develop the new skills that such an ambitious industrial project requires. It is the first of seven structuring projects that outline the industry’s employment and training strategy in France over the next five years.

Luc Chatel, President of the PFA automotive platform.

This training program is helping to create new, highly specialized jobs:  operators, technicians, engineers and managers.

Regional companies will thus be better prepared to remain competitive in an ever-changing global market.

Having contractors and factories is good, having staff is better. And that’s what the Électro’Mob initiative is all about.

Xavier Bertrand, President of the Hauts-de-France Region, at the official launch.

Who is the e-mobility training program for?

Électro’mob is designed for a wide range of profiles:

  • People undergoing professional retraining
  • Job seekers
  • But also college and high school students, in order to introduce them to the professions in this sector.

Attract and train, Électro’Mob’s 2 priorities

More than a “simple” training tool, the program is also designed as a real vector of attractiveness.

It aims to:

  • raise awareness about battery manufacturing jobs from an early age
  • attract talent to the region by offering state-of-the-art training on platforms and a dedicated simulator for an innovative teaching approach

Ambitious goals

Electro’Mob will offer over 11,000 training modules in new automotive industry skills, all tailored to the needs of employers.

And the Region, which is strongly committed to the attractiveness of the project, has pledged to train over 13,000 people by 2030.

A project supported by all the industry's stakeholders

The key strength of the initiative: a concerted approach built by and for manufacturers, with the support of educational structures, competitiveness clusters and training organizations.

40 partners worked together to create Électro’mob:

  • automotive manufacturers based in the Hauts-de-France region
  • representatives from the academic world
  • representatives from the automotive industry (ARIA – PFA)
  • institutional representatives (Hauts-de-France Region, GIP FCIP, UIMM, DREETS, etc.)

Winner of the ” Call for Expressions of Interest in Skills and Professions of the Future ” (AMI-CMA) for “France 2030“, this project has benefited from an investment of 27 million euros, including 2.1 million euros in subsidies from the Region.

By becoming part of the Rev3 dynamic, Electro’Mob will be an essential link in the regional strategy for the transition to a more sustainable, innovative and competitive economy.
