Pioneering ozone research in Oise, the gateway to Hauts-de-France

The platform is located at UniLaSalle, an engineering school which now has a dedicated 900-sq m building for ozone research. Pioneering research LaSalle O3 is the only facility of its kind in Europe-a center of excellence dedicated to ozone applications in agriculture for both food and non-food products, as well as in environmental science and plant chemistry. Specific research areas include: – Disinfecting and stabilizing biobased products (fresh and/or dried) – Treating farming and other effluents (including waters used in industrial processes, flumes/washing and/or irrigation); – Developing new molecules using green chemistry – Recycling/optimizing biowaste and agricultural coproducts (to include breaking down lignocellulosic biomass and functionalizing materials

Benefits for business

Concretely, LaSalle O3 will serve businesses and communities seeking new ways to treat water and improve food safety for people and animals. One such company is Bonduelle, a leading food producer and processor in northern France, which wants to see how ozone can help extend the shelf life of its products. Project partners Suez and Xylem are supplying ozone-producing equipment.
