About SKF

Sweden-based SKF ranks among the world’s top suppliers of bearings, seals, mechatronics and lubrication systems. Its Hauts-de-France plant, located in Valenciennes, is dedicated to manufacturing select aerospace bearings and ball bearings for airplane and helicopter engines and transmissions.
SKF’s client portfolio includes Safran, GE, UTC and other leading players in the aeronautics industry.

Top three reasons why SKF chose Hauts-de-France:

  • Logistics—the region has an excellent road network and is close to major international airports
  •  Very strong industrial culture
  • Skilled labor pool

European High-Speed Aeronautical Bearings Test Center

In late 2017, SKF launched the European High-Speed Aeronautical Bearings Test Center at the Valenciennes site. Dedicated to full-scale, high-speed bearing testing, the 500‑sq m building will reduce development time for new technologies and make it easier for SKF to win the approvals it needs to begin making new bearings.
