Opening soon: new Egencia customer service center

Egencia - Expedia Inc - customer service center - Lille Region

Egencia, the corporate travel arm of US group Expedia Inc., has announced it will be opening a new customer service center, complete with in-house training facility, near Lille in early 2013. The company plans to create 80 permanent, skilled jobs by 2015, with employees at this new unit in Tourcoing assisting customers with pricing, cancellations and modifications, and helping businesses use the Egencia website.

“Egencia is the third largest corporate travel agency in France and fifth largest in the world; this local investment to meet the needs of our fast-growing business will also give the regional economy a boost,” explains Jérôme Fouque, Egencia's General Manager – France. “[…] Our operations in France will expand by 20% this year and we need new capacity to accommodate growth.”

Although many sites were considered, the Lille region held the most appeal for several reasons:

  • the quality and size of the region's job pool,
  • the existence of organizations specializing in the type of training required, and with whom the group can develop partnerships,
  • the involvement and proactivity of local stakeholders.
