Once again, Northern France is the e-commerce giant’s region of choice.

    Amazon Northern France

    Largest order-picking site in France

Amazon—the world’s largest on-line retailer—has selected Northern France as the site for its fifth and largest order-picking center in France. The 107,000-sq m facility will be located near Amiens, strategically located at the center of the company’s European operations. Slated to open in mid-September 2017, the new site will process large items for delivery in France and across Europe, providing jobs for some 500 employees to be recruited over three years.

Amazon’s largest sorting platform in France

Meanwhile, Amazon’s site near Douai is planning to expand after only three years in operation. In a first for France, this 90,000-sq m warehouse will add its own sorting platform, increasing its footprint by 30%—added capacity that will help Amazon keep pace with growth running at a blistering 30% per year. The new building will be inaugurated in 2017, with 250 employees recruited over a three-year period.

When both new facilities are fully staffed, Amazon will have a total of 1,850 employees in Northern France.
