Political will meets economic vision
Rev3 lifted off in 2013, when the Hauts-de-France Region and Chamber of Commerce invited US economist Jeremy Rifkin, author of The Third Industrial Revolution, to help design a long-term roadmap for Hauts-de-France.
Our aim: build a low-carbon economy powered by decentralized energy and managed by smart networks.
Today Rev3 is a shared movement backed by government, business, academia, research and residents, all dedicated to making Hauts-de-France a European leader in the energy transition and digital technologies.
About Rev3
Rev3 is built on five pillars.
- Shift to renewable energies–biomass, biofuels, solar and hydrogen
- Build energy-positive buildings
- Install energy storage capacity
- Transform the power grid using internet technology
- Rethink mobility for people and goods
These are linked by 2 intersecting priorities:
- Grow the circular economy to reduce consumption of natural resources
- Shift to functional economics to create new economic models
Rev3—How it works
To meet these goals and support the creation of new businesses, Rev3 is backed by these hands-on resources:
- a €500-million investment fund to support private-sector projects
- Rev3 Accelerators—6-month packages to help entrepreneurs get projects up and running
- A team of experts to advise businesses on how to join the Rev3 movement by:
- developing eco-design practices
- promoting their companies
- optimizing energy consumption
- transforming their business model
