Lille University Hospital Center (CHRU) is expanding its cardiology unit, adding 40,000 sq m to create Europe’s largest cardiothoracic center, with 75,000 sq m in all. The facility will house a wide range of specialties—cardiology, thoracic and vascular medicine, cardiac emergency care, an emergency room and a poison unit. When the €173 million expansion is complete, the new center will have 498 beds.

By the start of the 2016 school year, premises will have doubled in size from 16,000 sq m to 30,000 sq m, for a total investment of €35 million. Some 12,000 students are currently enrolled, including 3,400 in the first year alone, along with 3,000 healthcare professionals in continuing education courses.
