In purchasing the French pet food company, Ireland’s C&D Foods is taking its European strategy to a whole new level. Under the terms of the deal, C&D will retain 275 employees and invest €60 million in Continentale Nutrition.

The Commercial Court of Boulogne-sur-Mer has tapped C&D Foods, a subsidiary of the Irish co-op ABP Group, to acquire Continentale Nutrition, a leader in the French pet food market. C&D Foods has pledged to invest €60 million over 5 years and to keep on 275 of the company’s 358 employees. C&D is now present in 11 countries: with Continentale Nutrition’s 110,000 metric tons of output, production will soon exceed 600,000 metric tons Europe-wide, consolidating its leading position in the European market.
