BioFIT—the essential event for the health sector

07 Nov 2014 | A region on the move, Health Nutrition

On December 2-3 Lille will host the third edition of BioFIT, Europe’s first business conference to focus exclusively on open innovation, technology transfer and collaborative research in the life sciences.

Organized by Eurasanté and the Nutrition-Health-Longevity competitiveness cluster, BioFIT is the only international event designed to encourage technology transfer partnerships and collaborative projects in the life sciences.

BioFIT attracts stakeholders from throughout the life sciences innovation chain—startups, researchers from academia and the private sector, major corporations and more—to generate new public-private R&D partnerships and licensing agreements. Thanks to the sheer range of participants, it offers unparalleled opportunities for networking, with one-on-one meetings, presentations on new technologies, a full slate of sessions and an exhibit area.

This year’s BioFIT gathering will also focus on animal health, diabetes, personalized medicine, monoclonal antibodies, innovative services and biomaterials. Key workshops and events include:

  • IDEA Summit—a one-day meeting on December 3 bringing industry and academia together to explore recent developments in diabetes research. In conjunction with this event, the European Genomic Institute for Diabetes (EGID) will hold its 3rd symposium on December 2-3, focusing on diabetes-related meta-inflammation and complications.

  • R&D Dating for Animal Health and Innovation. Hosted by SIMV, a French association for the animal health industry, with participants including top veterinary companies, academic research centers and startups. Dates: December 2-3.

  • French Innovation Services Event (FISE). Organized by the French Association of Outsourcing and Innovative Companies (AFSSI), a series of round tables focused on creating the conditions required to develop a powerful life sciences innovation sector. Date: December 3.

  • The annual meeting of GDR CNRS no. 3260, a research group of the French National Center for Scientific Research. This year’s edition addresses antibodies and inflammatory diseases, with a special focus on monoclonal antibodies that target cytokines.

  • 3 key workshops. The final session of Europe’s Perso-Med project on personalized medicine on December 2; a presentation on biomaterials as part of INTERREG IVB NEW’s Biomat-IN project on December 3; and the ASTP-Proton workshop, a one-day master class on translating new biomedical technologies into successful startups on December 1.
