BigBen Interactive plans €4 million investment

Douai warehouse to expand by 9,000 sq m.

A European leader in manufacturing and distributing accessories for videogame consoles, BigBen Interactive opened an 18,000 sq m warehouse near Douai at the end of 2011.

Located in the Lauwin-Planque industrial park, the facility features two storage modules handling up to 30,000 pallets, and a third for automated order preparation.

The original warehouse will now expand by 9,000 sq m, a €4 million investment designed to house a shipping facility that Modelabs, a BigBen Interactive subsidiary, is bringing back to the region. The company aims to double its warehouse operations and prepare for future growth. Launched in early April, the new addition will be finished by autumn so it can be ready in time for the holiday rush. “We expect business at our Lauwin-Planque warehouses to double, reaching 1.5 million items a month,” says logistics manager François Penin.

New storage and order preparation space will be dedicated to the mobile phone accessories—cases, skins and ear buds—that are driving the company’s growth. Integrating the Modelabs facility will create 25 new jobs at the distribution center, which already employs around 40 dispatchers.
