BCD Travel continues to expand in Lille

23 Sep 2014 | Customer services, Investment

After Paris and Montpellier, BCD Travel opens a new business platform in Lille—the latest strategic move by this fast-growing Dutch business travel management specialist, market leader in its field.

New business platform in Lille

To keep pace with its growth and maintain quality service, BCD Travel has opened a new branch in Lille—a logical move for this corporate travel specialist, which chose the city for its vibrant business environment and strategic location within easy reach of the company's headquarters in Paris.

BCD Travel has recruited some 20 seasoned, multi-lingual travel consultants for its new location to meet the needs of French and international businesses. Over the next four years, the company plans to hire around 100 more people.

A strategic choice

The success of the Euralille business district and its proximity to major European cities were key considerations in this strategic decision. Lille Region has an excellent labor pool, with several degree programs in tourism on offer nearby,” said Heinz Jennewein, BCD Travel’s Senior Vice President EMEA South West. “Our new location will house INFA (Institut National de Formation et d’Application), a training institute set up to educate future travel consultants. Hosting the Institute will help us become a part of the local community and allow us to contribute professional content to their course. We’ll also be creating a pool of travel agents with expertise in business travel to drive our own growth,” added Valérie Sasset, Managing Director at BCD Travel France.

Collaboration holds the key

Vincent Ledoux, Lille Métropole’s Vice-President for employment and economic affairs, was delighted to welcome BCD Travel to Euralille. “Europe’s leading business travel specialist has chosen Lille as the location for a new branch that will create some 100 jobs. That underscores our city's critical role in commerce as well as the broader appeal of the region. I’d also like to congratulate Lille’s agency, the city’s economic development office, and Nord France Invest, the regional development agency. They have demonstrated that we can work together to create jobs in Northern France,” he said.

Luc Doublet, President of Nord France Invest and Lille’s agency, also extended a warm welcome, underscoring BCD’s global network in nearly 100 countries. The Dutch group chose Greater Lille thanks to support from Lille’s agency and Nord France Invest, which provided economic intelligence and coordinated key efforts in real estate, financial analysis, recruiting and other areas to get the project off the ground.
