Returning to (Hauts-de-)France

In 2012, Laurent Mainaud took over the French company Bayart. In 2013, he also acquired the struggling Vanoutryve, one of its textile partners in Belgium. Forced to move its production to Mouscron, Belgium, the high-end upholstery fabric and velvet manufacturer is relocating to a 2,500 m² building in Roubaix (its original city) in 2018.

“The company has always been French, but business factors took it to Belgium for part of its manufacturing. Today, I welcome this return to France, which reflects our willingness to be part of a new momentum in textiles in northern France. We’re already working with dyers, like Lenfant in Hem or La Justice in Roubaix, as well as with weavers in Halluin and Cysoing.” Laurent Mainaud, Managing Director of Bayart Vanoutryve

Local production

Altogether six employees and ten machines are returning to France, in the heart of a historical textile area.

The French company is relocating its finishing machines, logistics and administrative services, and its design studio to Roubaix. It also plans to open a showroom there in the near future. Eventually, the factory will produce 150,000 m of fabric per year.

Historically a leading region for textiles, Hauts-de-France is now focusing on its assets for the industry. Learn more about technical textiles in Hauts-de-France.
