Another prize for Rubika

24 Mar 2015 | ICT, A region on the move

Northern France is a hotspot for talent—and particularly in the visual arts. Students from the region’s world-class Supinfocom Rubika education and training center have just picked up another award, this time at the International Digital Animation Festival in Nagoya City, Japan.

Rubika - Centopeia - Lille Region

Special award at the Nagoya Festival

A benchmark for digital creation, Supinfocom Rubika trains image specialists. The Valenciennes-based school has built an international reputation for excellence—confirmed in late 2014 by another award. On December 6, 2014, six students from Supinfocom Rubika’s animation degree program won a Special Jury Prize at the International Digital Animation Festival in Nagoya, Japan. High praise!

Centopeia, a scintillating short animation

Their entry—Centopeia—is an animated short film that tells the story of a singer who despite himself becomes the leader of a revolution. The project demanded a huge effort from the six contributors, who spent over a year writing their script, then producing the animation. They lived and breathed the challenge, with each contributing his or her own skills. Nagoya’s Special Jury Prize shines a spotlight on these talented young people, who will soon be on the market—and in high demand.

La Serre Numérique: Rubika’s new campus

In January, Rubika’s 800 students moved to their new campus at the Serre Numérique in Valenciennes. Premises include brand new classrooms and studios, a 450-seat auditorium, a virtual reality center, a motion capture studio and co-working areas—premises dedicated to making their education and projects a success.

With 17,000 sq m dedicated to the world of images and digital creation, La Serre Numérique hosts Rubika, but it doesn’t stop there. It offers a 3,000 sq m business area with an incubator, a center for applied research and cutting-edge technology transfer, and shared space for working and hanging out. The official opening is April 9, with Rubika set to celebrate other developments in 2015, as well, starting with an all-new curriculum in September.
